When I was a kid, I stumbled upon Robin McKinley's books in the school library and instantly fell in love. She wrote a great fantasy series, The Blue Sword & The Hero And The Crown… but my absolute favorite thing about her was that she wrote fairy tales! When I saw that, I was soooo stoked! Beyond belief. I love fairy tales and didn't realize they were retold by people.
As an adult, I gravitate towards historical romances because they're the closest to fairy tales you can get, besides fairy tales themselves, of course. So, what are your favorite genres? To summarize, I like fantasy & historical romance I kind of despise paranormal… simply because it's WAY overdone. I like variety in all aspects of my life, I guess. |

RE: What's your favorite genres?
Ah, well, this is a tough question. Pretty much like music, I like any kind of book. If i had to pick my favourite genres, though, I'd have to say: fantasy, thriller/mystery, period drama romance, some horror from time to time and 'psychological' books - those who focus on a very interesting character (like a murderer or so) and show what (s)he thinks, how (s)he develops, etc. - I don't even know if that's a genre or what's the real name of this genre, but hopefully you get the picture.
I also love classic books, such as "Pride & Prejudice" (or any of Jane Austen's books), "Tess of the D'Ubervilles", "Jane Eyre", "Moby Dick" (yeah, I am a big fan of English literature, as you can see), and I also love Italian classic books - my favourite authors are Giovanni Verga, Luigi Pirandello, Italo Svevo and a few others. |

I actually used to enjoy paranormal books until like you, they became too overdone I can walk into a paranormal section and can already predict the blurbs of most books.Though, there are still some books in that genre that are amazing It's just too over-saturated. |

RE: What's your favorite genres?
omg that's so cool… never heard of anyone loving her as much as me. Even if I saw the book in the school library, it always seemed that if I mentioned her, people would just be like "HUH?!"
I used to read this vampire series by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. At the time, we were the same age, 15, and it was so cool to me. It was like S.E Hinton, but an actually cool book lol. I don't remember the names, other than Demon In My View… but I'd have to say they were better written than Twilight (sorry if I offend any twi-hards ) |

RE: What's your favorite genres?
I'm a huge fantasy and a somewhat sci-fi type. Seems like almost anything else puts me to sleep. I think I get enough of the corny romance from the Korean dramas I watch, but if someone throws a good title in my direction, I'll definitely try to pick it up. I have a weakness for collecting fresh books.

RE: What's your favorite genres?
The genre doesn't really matter to me. Sci-fi, fantasy, paranormal, suspense, horror, romance, you name it. Even though I barely ever read sci-fi/fantasy novels, some of them are amazing reads. As long as the book is good and it hooks me in, I won't care what genre it is.
For some reason I like to read memoirs the most. My favorite one is Driving with Dead People by Monica Holloway. |

I love tons of genres, I like fantasy, sci-fi, drama, and books like Pretty Little Liars... not really sure what genre that is. I love different types of varieties!

RE: What's your favorite genres?
Hm. I believe my favorites would have to be fantasy, horror, and most recently science fiction, depending on the author. I love fantasy novels as long as their not cliche, which seems to be happening more and more. I keep seeing newer fantasy novels which have a second theme of romance almost as prevalent as the fantasy part at Borders. Like, almost every new fantasy novel. -_-; I love horror books, especially ones by Stephen King/Richard Bachman. <33

RE: What's your favorite genres?
Oooo, my favorite book by Stephen King is The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon. I like his movies more than his books sometimes… even though the movies seem to put different spins on things… like in Secret Window. The book for that was a lot better than the movie… even if Johnny was in it. (I grew out of the obsessively-watching-movies-just-because-of-hot-sexy-men phase of life, thankfully lol)… but anyway… Stephen King is awesome
I love Neil Gaiman, too. His stories always have the right amount of scariness & magic for my liking. |

RE: What's your favorite genres?
My favorite genre when it comes to fiction is action, mystery... mystery... I am freaking in love with Sherlock Holmes! Hahaha! I dunno why, I am trying to get the set but I am quite confused on how many it is now. I also like Victor Hugo's stories which could vary in genre. Fantasy... not so much, depends on the storyline. If there is a bit of history, I also like it.
Book as in education wise... politics, history, a little bit of mythology and legends ^^ |
