Help installing ENTHUSIAST 3 for fanlisting collectives?
Use Goodbye Spammer on Takharii.
Hey guys!
I've recently gotten into fanlistings, and I've set up a collective (hosted by Three-Words, of course!). I'd like to use the Enthusiast script to manage my collective/owned FLs, but I'm not familiar with scripts. I don't know what to do with the script (I've read the readme and install.txt instructions, but I'm still confused. Can anyone who uses this script help me out?
If it helps, my collective is http://ellen-rose.sky-song.org (I intend on getting the domain http://ellen-rose.org sometime in the near future though).
Thanks! <3

Thanks Misaki! Big Grin

Well, the first step says this:

"Unzip the enth3 zip file and open enth3/config.php in a text editor and
change the database variables to reflect the database and tables you will
use for Enthusiast 3."

I'm assuming that that refers to these:

$db_server = 'localhost';
$db_user = 'username';
$db_password = 'password';
$db_database = 'databasename';

What do I put in for "sever" and "database"?

For $db_server, you don't need to touch it as the default is normally localhost and that's what we use Smile

For the $db_database, you'll need to create a MYSQL database to tell which one to use. So in Cpanel under Databases, you'll see MySQL database wizard. That'll help you set up the database and user as well.

Just make sure when you place the database name in the config file that you include your Cpanel username. For example if you name your database 'fan' then what you would put in for $db_database = 'databasename'; would be:

$db_database = 'cpanelusername_fan';

Hope that helps! Smile Let me know if you're not sure of anything~

Okay, I did that, and the folder is on my website. I left the database table variables as they are, but I get this error when I try to do step 3:
http://ellen-rose.sky-song.org/admin/install.php

Hey! Smile

I hope you don't mind, but I entered your Cpanel and attempted to do another clean install of Enthusiast for you. This time, the error looks like it's gone:

http://ellen-rose.sky-song.org/admin/install.php

I haven't actually installed it yet since I didn't know what variables you wanted ^^ And I moved the previous files to a folder called 'admin2' Smile

Lol. Thank you Misaki! Smile
It works!! Yay!! Just one last question:
If I get a domain, I am able to move the site over and change the enth3 details, aren't I?
Thanks again Big Grin

You can, yes. Its a bit complicated, so you may need more specific instructions. You can get a domain and move everything without losing anything, yes. You will need to know how to import/export the SQL database. You may not even need to make a lot of changes to the enth3 details. Smile
